ANNOUNCEMENT! Please see the email communication below from the PCS Head of School!

Dear Plumstead Christian School Community,

It is with both gratitude and heartfelt emotion that we share the news that Mrs. Jo Smeland will be retiring from her role as the Middle and Upper School Receptionist at the end of November 2025, concluding 34 remarkable years of faithful service to Plumstead Christian School.

For more than three decades, Mrs. Smeland has been the warm and welcoming presence at the heart of our Middle and Upper School campus. Her kindness and steadfast commitment have touched generations of students, parents, faculty, and guests. Whether greeting families each morning, assisting teachers behind the scenes, or helping our administrators keep the day running smoothly, Jo has embodied the love of Christ in countless quiet ways. Her ministry of hospitality and excellence has left an enduring mark on our school community.

Please join us in thanking Mrs. Smeland for her exceptional service and in praying for her as she prepares to begin this new and well-deserved chapter of retirement. We look forward to celebrating her legacy together later this fall.

As we prepare for her transition, we are beginning the process of hiring her successor. We are hoping to fill this expanded role of Front Office Administrative Assistant/Receptionist by Monday, December 1, 2025.  Given this, we will collect applications through Friday, November 14.

This full-time employee (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, with a four-day summer schedule) serves as the welcoming face and voice of our Middle and Upper School campus. The role blends hospitality, organization, and service to help our Christ-centered community run smoothly each day. This position reports to the Middle and Upper School Principal and works closely with the Head of School, Director of Marketing and Admissions, and Director of Transportation.

The ideal candidate will be a warm, dependable professional with strong administrative and communication skills, a heart for service, and a growing Christian faith aligned with our school’s mission. Responsibilities include greeting guests and ensuring campus security, managing student attendance, coordinating parent volunteers, assisting with daily operations and communication, and providing administrative support to school leaders.

If you, or someone you know, would like to serve the Lord by supporting students, families, and faculty in this vital role, we invite you to apply using the following application form

With deep appreciation,

Pat Fitzpatrick, Head of School
